Senior bureaucrats from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and other states are set to superannuate, paving the way for fresh leadership in Indian administration.



New Delhi: As many as 20 senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from different cadres and batches are set to retire in May 2026. The upcoming retirements span multiple states and include officers who have served in important administrative roles across the country.

The list includes officers from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal cadres.



Officers Retiring in May 2026

The list of retiring IAS officers includes:

The retiring officers belong to several key state cadres including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka, among others. Their careers span significant administrative roles in state governments as well as central deputations.

Decades of Public Service

These officers have collectively worked across various critical sectors such as governance, policy formulation, district administration, infrastructure growth, and welfare implementation. Many of them have occupied senior leadership positions in state secretariats and central ministries.

Transition in Bureaucratic Leadership

The retirement of 20 senior IAS officers in a single month is expected to trigger a notable administrative transition across several states. New officers from upcoming batches are likely to assume key responsibilities, continuing ongoing governance and development programmes.
