Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, passed away on Wednesday morning. He was taken to Civil Hospital in Lucknow, where physicians pronounced him brought dead. He was 38.
Prateek Yadav studied at the renowned University of Leeds before moving into business and fitness ventures in Lucknow. He owned “The Fitness Planet”, a well-known gym in
the city, and was broadly recognised for his dedication to health and physical fitness.
His wife, Aparna Yadav, has stayed active in politics over the years. She contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Lucknow Cantt on a Samajwadi Party ticket but was defeated by Rita Bahuguna Joshi. She later joined the BJP in 2022 and was named vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission in 2024.
Prateek and Aparna married in 2011 during a high-profile ceremony organised in the Yadav family’s ancestral village, Saifai, in Etawah district.
Earlier this year, Prateek Yadav had openly spoken about marital conflict with Aparna Yadav. In a post shared on his verified Instagram account, he alleged that she had damaged his relationship with relatives and stated that he planned to pursue a divorce.
