New Delhi: IAS officer Jitender Yadav (IAS: 2010: AGMUT) has been appointed as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR), Lakshadweep, in the rank of Director in the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of three years.

His appointment on additional charge basis has been approved by the competent authority, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said. His tenure will be with effect from the date he assumes charge and will be for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Jitender Yadav is an AGMUT cadre IAS officer of 2010 batch, which includes Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories. He has held several administrative positions during his career.

The appointment report states that Yadav has been working as Managing Director of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) besides the additional charge of Secretary (Information Technology). The order says he will also look after the Lakshadweep assignment besides his present duties.

The Director of Census Operations shall be responsible for coordinating all the administrative activities relating to the Census and for assisting in the implementation of Census operations in the State or Union Territory allotted to him. These activities are undertaken in coordination with the office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India and the concerned authorities.

The Director of Citizen Registration is responsible for the administrative work of citizen registration under the framework and government instructions.

The DoPT has instructed that Yadav be informed of his appointment and requested to take on the added responsibility. The appointment is also to be intimated to the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The assignment is under the Central Staffing Scheme whereby eligible officers are assigned responsibilities in Central Government Departments and Administrative Organizations.
