In a significant move, the Centre has designated Chetan PS Rao (IRS-IT:2002) as Principal Economic Affairs Officer (D-I) in New York, USA, under a United Nations assignment.

As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (May 4, 2026), he will assume the long-term overseas assignment for a duration of 364 days from the date he takes charge of the position, or until additional directives are issued, whichever comes earlier.

To facilitate his transition to the new role, his central deputation tenure as Member (Finance), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has been shortened.

It is noteworthy that Chetan PS Rao had been appointed to the DDA in September 2025 for a five-year tenure.
