The Election Commission of India on Monday (May 25, 2026) appointed Neelam Meena (IAS:1998:WB) as the new Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal.

She was selected from a panel of three IAS officers sent by the West Bengal government. The panel included Neelam Meena, Tanmay Chakrabarty (IAS:2006:WB) and Moumita Godara Basu (IAS:2007:WB). The Election Commission has now picked Meena for the post.
