The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has designated acclaimed lyricist, author and media strategist Prasoon Joshi as the Head of Prasar Bharati, India’s national public broadcasting organisation.

Mr Joshi is a renowned creative personality with extensive contributions spanning literature, branding, films, and mass communication. Recognised for his influential writing and strong cultural insight, he has contributed significantly to shaping modern Indian media discourse. His portfolio includes celebrated film songs, advertising initiatives, and socially meaningful narratives that resonate with varied audiences throughout the nation.

Regarding his appointment, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, Mr Joshi is an exceptional creative force admired globally in advertising, literature, art and cinema.’ Mr Vaishnaw added that Joshi’s expressions carry the aroma of the land, while his outlook mirrors the enduring spirit of the nation’s heritage.

The Minister conveyed confidence that under his leadership, Prasar Bharati will gain fresh momentum, stronger direction, and an innovative creative identity. Previously, Mr Joshi served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification in Mumbai.
